Emma Joy, author and illustrator extraordinaire!

This was too cute not to share with you all. Part of Emma's schoolwork today was to write a story. I meant it to be good penmanship, punctuation, and spelling practice (which it was), but I think she saw it more as a special treat. This girl of mine comes alive when she is creating and drawing.

I would just like to say that this is all her-- I did not help one bit, except for the few times she asked me how to spell a word ("adventure", for example. And she obviously did NOT ask me when trying to spell "something". hehe. I love it!)

ok, storytime. Enjoy!

oh, and it gets a bit dicey there in the middle... don't be scared, there IS a happy ending. :)

Did you just hear that? Because my mind just blew. OK, that is a really corny thing to say but I am AMAZED! I'm chanting in my head- "I will not compare my child, I will not compare my child!" Her pictures are so cute, but I'm especially impressed by her handwriting and creativity! And how the heck does she already know about proper punctuation? Her use of quotation marks and commas... mind boggling! OK, if anyone wonders if homeschoolers really can provide a good education at home, you've just proven it. Great job, Emma! And Talia, you need a huge pat on the back because this is seriously impressive. I would never guess that she was 6 years old and in kindergarten! I know I'm gushing, but it is all my honest opinion. WOW!!!

I'm just going to say that I'm pretty FRIGGIN' proud of my daughter right now, and pretty FRIGGIN' proud of you, my lovely wife, for fostering her smarts and creativity.

This has made an otherwise boring day absolutely shiny.

oh! and, to be completely honest, I had to tell her about quotation marks and the comma. I forgot about that until you mentioned them, Sunny. :) thanks for your sweet words and encouragement, my friend! <3

thanks, Jeremy-love, your words made me smile :)

I'm pretty FRIGGIN' giggling over Jeremy's comment. HAHAHA.
Emma is a genius child. That's all there is to it. She will probably be a famous author or artist or something when she grows up. She's seriously AMAZING. I could not believe when I saw her handwriting for the first time up on your fridge. It's better than MINE. lol.
Just so you can see how really truly amazing Emma's skills are... I think I might have to show you a story Logan wrote this week. His handwriting is REALLY SLOPPY!! You would never know he's almost a 2nd grader and she's only in Kindergarten. All kids are so different. hehe
GO EMMA JOY!
