joining a new kind of club

"To Do Before Baby Comes: " The list that is titled as such is a looooong one, and as of now there are still way too many things left unchecked. Why rush into anything? I still have 8 weeks left, after all. (GAH! Only 8 weeks!)

I am, however, happy to report that we were able to cross one major item off that list as of last Saturday:

"Buy a minivan" -- check!!

Yay! This is our new family car, a lovely gray-ish blue 2009 Toyota Sienna, and I LOVE it. It is so spacious and pretty, it has that delicious new car smell, there are lots of really cool features that will most definitely come in handy (such as Bluetooth and a middle seat that slides all the way up for easy access to an infant car seat), and the doors close ALL BY THEMSELVES. I love this feature, really, I do. It's almost weird how much I love it and the fact that I don't have to walk around to close a car door. Hmm, lazy, much?

Thankfully, we were able to get a really great deal on this van-- it was actually cheaper than some of the older models we looked at. Things like mileage and safety features were very important to us, since this is the car we will hopefully be driving for years and years to come. We wanted to be a little bit picky for that very reason, and God was so good to provide us with the perfect vehicle for our growing family. Buying a new vehicle was a necessity for us, as my little Ford Focus simply would not hold three carseats. We're very grateful for our new ride!

It's weird, but having this van and driving it around town has really hit it home to me-- we're going to have three kids. THREE. And something about that seems like a whole new ballgame, so to speak. I don't even know how to properly put my thoughts into words, without them sounding incredibly dumb... it's just this feeling like somehow we're entering a completely different stage of our lives. We're going to be parents to not one, not two, but three kids-- we must be grown up! I mean, I drive a minivan now, for pete's sake!!

See what I mean... That makes no sense at all and doesn't really do my thoughts justice. Do any of you out there have the slightest clue what I'm talking about, moms or otherwise? Or am I just crazypants (as Sarah would say)??

Anyway... I'm quite happy to join the minivan club and joyfully embrace the season of life that is upon us.

Especially since it comes with magical self-closing doors.

I love your van! I'm sure it will last you a very long time. I think it's official though, every single person I know has a different car now than when I first met them except for me! I really want a new(er) car but it's not in the budget yet. Maybe in 2-3 years. *sigh* My in-laws have asked us a few times if we'll be getting a mini-van. I think that's some sort of hint. LOL.

Wooo whoooo! Awesome new wheels!! Kyle and I just checked "replace the old car" off our list too. Doesn't it feel nice to start making that list of things to do before baby arrives shorter? I still have a number of things on there too but my nesting is kicking in, I expect it to get much shorter in the next month. I can't believe you only have 8 weeks left!!

Congrats! I am soooo happy for you! Your new wheels are gorgeous! I love my minivan like my BFF, it's so ridiculous. And the magical self-closing doors NEVER get old. You were smart to buy a new car before the baby came. Ollie was born and we were like "shoot, where do we put the baby"?

And Ii totally understand what you were trying to say, though I still don't feel grown up. Just happy:) Lalalalalala!

Whoo hoooo on the new car!! You guys looked sooo completely adorable this morning when we saw you pull up in your mini van. =)
I will always have a special place in my heart for our van... maybe someday we'll get another one. Oh... watch out for the back seat... we found Logan stashed some crazy stuff back there in ours. lol

So I think I might have seen you guys pass us on the freeway this afternoon around 12:30ish! LOL! I didn't actually SEE the people in the van, but it was exactly like your NEW one...same color, no plates! =) Anyways, CONGRATS, how fun for a new car!! And you totally crack me up with your "grown up" logic...HEHEHE! But I totally get what you are saying...sometimes I have to REMIND myself how old I REALLY am!

Got your card you are so sweet and it was great to see you and the girls. We must not wait so long in between. Hugs to all - Andrea

Oh, I'd love to have a minivan! :)

I have no kids, and won't for a few years (most likely, anyway...) - but I love driving minivans. It's weird. But true.

How exciting! Three kids! Whew. Can we expect hardly any blogging from you then? I hope not!

Congrats on the new van! I told my husband that is my goal for our next car... he looked at me like I was crazy. I would like to see him fit three kids in the back of a little car though!

I can't believe you are nearly through with this pregnancy... it has flown by and soon you will have your precious baby girl! Yeah!
